Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)

Enter Canada when you are otherwise inadmissible.

Overview

If you are inadmissible to Canada, for example because of a past conviction or a previous immigration violation, a Temporary Resident Permit may let you enter for a specific purpose and period. The officer weighs your reason for travel against any risk. Some people may also qualify for criminal rehabilitation.

Who it's for

  • Travellers with a past criminal conviction, including impaired driving
  • People previously refused or removed from Canada

How we help

  • We assess whether a TRP, criminal rehabilitation or deemed rehabilitation is the right route.
  • We prepare a clear submission explaining why your travel is justified.

Program rules, fees and processing times are set by the Government of Canada and change often. Check the official IRCC information page, or ask us for advice on your situation.
